Revolutionary Trivalent Chromium Decorative Plating Process

TRISTAR 330 AF is a third generation, sulfate based, trivalent chromium plating process. The resulting deposit optical colour & aspect, utilizing the International Commission on Illumination scale *L*A*B, is very close to deposits plated from traditional hexavalent chrome systems.  The TRISTAR 330 AF has a whiteness “L” colour value over “83”;  a chrome “a” value “-0.5 to -0.6” and hue “b” value from “0 to -0.2” which compares well against conventional decorative chrome system performance.

Designed to be effective over a broad range of chemistry concentrations, TRISTAR 330 AF has a significant advantage with plating performance over most competitive processes. It also has a high rate of deposition averaging 0.4 µm thickness in 5 minutes.

Apart from increasing production through-put, this system also eliminates the risk to technical personnel coming into contact with chromic acid anhydride, a dangerous class 1 carcinogenic compound.
