Revolutionary Trivalent Chromium Decorative Plating Process

TRISTAR 330 AF process is the newest generation, production proven sulfate based chemistry, ammonium free trivalent chromium plating process developed by COVENTYA. The process chemistry can be operated for Decorative applications where deposit color is most important or the operating conditions set up for meeting high corrosion resistance requirements for functional applications. The process offers a range of outstanding performance results over the present state-of-the-art technology and can be found on many types of parts and components in many industrial applications.

When visual color and plated surface appearance are the most critical target, especially for Decorative applications, the process chemistry can be operated to provide an aesthetical color equivalent to hexavalent chrome deposits based on CIE L*a*b* results. In this operating mode, TRISTAR 330 AF produces a color hue -0.5 to -1.5 ‘b” values based on CIE L*a*b* results.

Additionally, the process can be set up and operated for meeting high demands of functional applications and OEM specification requirements where the highest deposit thickness requirements are important to meet corrosion performance CASS and Neutral Salt Spray requirements in accordance with ISO 9227. These performance characteristics can be further improved using the TRISTAR SHIELD Cr VI free post treatment process.

The process components are designed to be effective over a broad range of concentrations compared to most competitive processes. Applicators using TRISTAR 330 AF process eliminate the risk of contact of chromic anhydride, a dangerous class 1 carcinogenic compound to their personnel.

TRISTAR 330 AF has a steady, improved cathode efficiency with a plating rate that is similar to the Hexavalent Chromium systems and higher than previous generation sulfate processes.

The TRISTAR 330 AF process is designed for applications plating ferrous alloys, nickel plated steel, and non-ferrous alloys including nickel plated brass and copper, zinc die cast (Zamak) and on all types of plastic parts and components with our SILKEN BOND non-chrome plating process.

This process belongs toTRISTAR LINE

TRISTAR line of trivalent chrome processes represents an important advancement in the technology of high performance addition agent systems for conventional and black trivalent chrome plating. It provides a remarkably uniform performance over a wide range of current densities and operating conditions.

TRISTAR processes offer excellent deposit coverage even in very low current density areas. They have outstanding tolerance to current interruption and intermittent contact during the chrome plating portion of the finishing cycle. Besides, simple-to-monitor and to-control additives of provide excellent process stability.

The line helps in enhancing worker safety, decreasing waste water treatment demands, and increasing profits due to remarkably high productivity. In addition, it is a production proven replacement to Chrome VI processes.

TRISTAR is an ideal solution for decorative applications where high performance and high productivity are essential.
