REACh

European Union’s directive (EC) No. 1907/2006 for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals, most commonly referred to as REACh, has been in force since the 1st of June, 2007. Its’ aim is to centralize and simplify the chemical legislation throughout Europe.

COVENTYA takes its responsibilities as a downstream user very seriously. All raw materials in our products are pre-registered. Risk reducing measures are applied and the information-chain is maintained with suppliers and customers.

The most important source of the information-chain is the Safety Data Sheet. Our products- formulation and mixtures- are classified, labelled and packed according to Directive 1999/45/EWG. The Safety Data Sheets of COVENTYA are REACh-compliant. For some of our customers they are directly available on our website.

When it comes to galvanic-technical processes, Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC) are to be considered as well.  According to Direction EC 1907/2006 SVHC-substances with a concentration above 0,1 wt-% have to be communicated. Once a new substance is included in the Candidate list, we check the content of our products. If its SVHC status is confirmed, our customers will be informed.

Regarding the SVHC-substances, all necessary information is to be found in the Safety Data Sheets (according to article 31, REACh): Existing SVHC-substances declared explicit in chapter 3 of the Safety Data Sheets.

COVENTYA is not a manufacturer of articles – so we have no information requirements according to article 33, REACh. You can identify the wt-% of SVHC in articles on the basis of the IMDS-data. Please, find the IMDS-ID on the last page our Technical Data Sheets.

International Material Data System

Due to the high quantity of old vehicles and the high value of their parts, it is worth to adapt a proper waste disposal and recycling policy.

Through a clear definition and declaration, it is possible to classify parts and materials so that a specific recycling or disposal can be carried out.

All materials used in the automobile industry are archived and maintained in the International Material Data System (IMDS). On this base Material Data Sheets (MDS) are created. All used materials and compounds of parts are included in this MDS. This is necessary for their ulterior recycling.

COVENTYA creates Technical Data Sheets (TDS) for all our processes. On the last page of the TDS the respective IMDS-ID is listed. Please, find the COVENTYA list regarding the IMDS-ID in the corresponding data file.

If you have questions or requests regarding IMDS, please contact us: IMDS@coventya.com
